The Hong Kong Security Association Profile

The Hong Kong Security Association( HKSA ), founded in 1984, is the only Association of companies holding security licenses issued by the Security and Guarding Services Industry Authority. Our member companies are principally engaged in providing a variety of security services, namely:

  • Guarding services - commercial and residential
  • Cash transport services by armoured vehicle
  • Installation and maintenance of alarm systems and equipment
  • Remote monitoring of alarms, fire alarm and CCTV systems
  • Supply of security systems and equipment
  • Investigation services

The Hong Kong Security Association members comprise of key players of security companies, investigation firms, security equipment suppliers and property management companies with a security licence. The membership is now well over 100. We have two main objectives in mind, and they are - to promote and encourage a high standard of ethics, quality services and best equipment supply within the industry and to act as a negotiating body with Government and other appropriate agencies

Over a period of 20 years, the Association has gained recognition as the only authoritative representative of the security industry in Hong Kong. Members enjoy public recognition of a high order, with assured quality and professional ethics.

A number of our members are property management companies with security licence. We share common objectives in providing ethical services, high quality guarding services, intensive training programmes and are always looking for innovative ideas. Seminars and social functions organized by the Association offer platforms for exchange of creative ideas and tackle common issues, and explore the way ahead.

 The Association works with the Security & Guarding Services Industry Authority and has achieved much to protect the interest of the industry. We also work closely with the Security Companies Inspection Unit of the Crime Prevention Bureau of the Hong Kong Police.
The Association is a member of the Security Services Training Board of the Vocational Training Council since its inception and has contributed to the quality frame-work for industry practitioners.
The Association assists and advises member companies on legal, insurance and operational issues .Seminars, talks and forums had been and will be held whenever necessary for the common interest and professional needs of all our members. Meetings of Sub-Committees for various disciplines of the industry are regularly being held at intervals and whenever required..

Social functions are organized to provide platforms for idea sharing and opportunity for members to meet.

The Association welcomes you to join and be a part of the industry family. We speak in one voice, and of course it shall be heard!

Main Objectives and Services

Vision:

To enhance and uphold the best security services and equipment standards in Hong Kong

Mission:

  • To act as a negotiating and advisory body to meet with Government on security legislation and matters relating to security.
  • To act as a trade association to enhance the best business opportunities for our members.
  • To promote security training programmes for personal upgrading and self appreciation.

The Association has seven different member categories to cater for all disciplines in the security industry. They are:

Type 2 - Armoured vehicle transport
Type 3 - Alarm installation
Type 4 - Security equipment
Type 5 - Investigation
Type 6 - Central alarm monitoring station
Type 7 - Others

Working Groups

Working Groups consist of Executive Committee Members and representatives of company members who volunteer to serve. A Working Group is formed where and when necessary to target a specific programme or project. and is dissolved when the mission is accomplished.
